In honor of the upcoming Tax Day, Glenn and Jeff dig deep into what the history of taxes are and why we should or should not be paying them. Kicked off by a listener’s question, this special episode is sure to get the water cooler talk flowing around how and why we should pay Uncle Sam. In the spirit of Oprah’s book club, we invite you to listen to this and other episodes of PoliTalkk with friends and family, then debate the issues amongst yourselves. We call it the PoliTalk Living Room Club… you and your friends and family listen to PoliTalk separately, then get together with good people, great food and your favorite beverages to kick up the conversation and debate. PoliTalk is refreshingly honest, informative and always entertaining. It's PoliTalk -- your weekly source for political news and current events.

Is there anyone Glenn and Jeff don't take on in what might be the most spirited episode of PoliTalk. The boys of PoliTalk dig deeper than the alluring media headlines about the AIG bonus, explaining exactly what happened, and the systemic issues that need to be addressed to avoid another AIG type problem. Then they turn their fire on some in the media, who have failed to live up to the high journalistic standards set by... Comedy Central's Jon Stewart (yes, that's right). They ask the interesting question of how Dick Cheney's recent interview would go had Jon Stewart conducted the interview, and wonder why there isn't more true investigative reporting anymore?  It's refreshingly honest, informative and always entertaining. It's PoliTalk -- your weekly source for political news and current events.

Glenn and Jeff dive right into the political minefield in Episode 28, revealing what's really going on with the reversal of the Bush Stem Cell research ban, and the Congressional appropriations package. Jeff offers support for the budget bill, and they both call for more transparency in the process. Glenn offers a simple plan to get that transparency (maybe they'll hire him to do it). They also discuss the role of journalism and podcasts, and why The Daily Show's Jon Stewart might just be the best journalist in the business. In a bombshell, Jeff reveals which Senate Democrat is most vulnerable in 2010, how to beat that person, and that that person needs to do to win. PoliTalk: entertaining, informative and refreshingly honest.

How can Rush Limbaugh present himself as the titular head of the Republican Party? As podcasters extraordinaire, Glenn and Jeff decide to anoint themselves head of their respective parties, poking fun at the turmoil in the Republican ranks. Moving to more serious topics, Jeff cautions against a rush to judgment on health care reform, noting that the new ads launched by conservative Richard Scott threaten to devalue a much needed health care reform debate. Jeff opens up about his experiences with the health care system, and what we really need to focus on in this coming debate. Glenn, proving that the guys aren't just fun and games, proves the PoliTalk policy chops by unveiling the Politalk Energy Plan. Well, actually, it's Glenn's brilliant idea which Jeff just rips off. Informative, entertaining and always refreshingly honest. Insightful political analysis, not from Washington insiders pushing their agendas, screaming at each other on talk shows, but from political veterans living outside the Washington beltway, like the rest of us.
